Black Korina comes in a wide variety of figuring and coloration. The most highly figured pieces boast beautiful orange-brown figuring that starkly contrast with the surrounding wood. Contrary to certain poular builder's claims, Korina is not in short supply, as protections put in place in the 1950's have helped the species thrive.
The wood is medium density and relativly easy to carve. It's tone is similar to that of Mahogany with warm midranges but brighter highs.
