Bubinga is a dense, heavy, oily wood, and usually presents in a brown to dark red/brown coloration. The trees from which Bubinga is harvested can grow very large. It can be highly figured and has a very good strengh-to-weight ratio, although gluing and finishing can present problems when the oil content is high.
Bubinga as a wood for furniture construction is terrific, but it would not be our fist choice in electric guitar construction due to the weight, difficulty in working, and the oil content.
