Quilted Maple, along with Flamed Maple, is arguably the most highly prized wood used as the top for high-end electric guitar construction. Some of the most expensive boutique guitars available boast Quilted Maple tops.

The word "Quilt" refers to the illusion of depth, or the hills and valleys that are present in a piece of Quilted Maple. These hills and valleys can be visually enhanced, with striking results, with the use of stains.
